To the Finish Line - Sam Houston Race Park

Whenever someone speaks of horse racing, the scene in My Fair Lady pops into mind where everyone dresses up with large hats and frilly dresses. Of course nowadays no one dresses like that anymore although a trip to the race park can be a posh affair. With that said, if you are planning a trip to Houston, Texas, why don’t you plan a trip to the Sam Houston Race Park? It is located in the unincorporated northwest of Houston that hosts Thoroughbred horse racing and American Quarter Horse annually, as well as country, rock and classic rock concerts.
The Sam Houston Race Park was opened to the public in 1994 and is the first Class 1 Horse Racing venue ever in Texas. Since it costs quite a hefty sum to build - an approximately $90 million - when races are not being held, you can find other attractions such as concerts being held at the same venue.
